What is THISyarn? This website is a labor of love - dedicated to the lovers of art yarns, from the spinners to the makers.
Why a website? We could not find any one source that celebrated and supported funky, chunky handspun yarn in patterns, photography, and community. Many art yarn spinners have contributed patterns to spinning books, print and online knitting magazines, Knitty, and PLY, among others. There was still no one place to find patterns and inspiration for the yarn we love - so we created something that totally features and celebrates big, bold, textured yarns.
In making THISyarn, we wanted an interactive, living, breathing space for art yarns. We want to inspire the fiber artists that are not ‘technical’ knitters and crocheters - these yarns are so alive, simple is best.
You won’t find difficult patterns on the site - we want to feature classic pieces and shapes for your life that you can create in knit, crochet, weave, or even felt.
What will you see in THISyarn? Each quarterly issue will have patterns, articles, tips, stories of farm life, and beautiful photography of each piece. New patterns will be released between each ‘big’ issue, so stay tuned!
THISyarn is a work in progress. We want to be the resource YOU are looking for, too. Let us know what you would like to see! We welcome feedback and submissions; see the guidelines on the website if you would like to contribute.
Thank you all for the opportunity to create the website we have dreamed of.
